Summertime is here, and in Virginia, summer means warm weather, outdoor events, and road trips. Load up your friends and family and combine all three to check out these great events going on in the Hampton area this summer.
Chalk the Walk Artsplosion
If there’s one thing that summer makes everyone excited for, it’s a trip to the beach, but this event is about more than sand and the sun. Grab your sidewalk chalk to enter the Chalk the Walk Artsplosion contest at Virginia Beach on July 8. With categories for kids, amateurs and pros, there’s something for everyone. Each 4’x4′ chalk drawing is judged on use of color, adherence to theme, and composition. Whether you are an artist or an art admirer, this event is a great excuse to take a trip to the beach!
Horse and Hound Wine Festival
Here in Virginia, if you love animals, then visit the Horse and Hound Wine Festival which takes place July 8th and July 14th. Load up your family and friends and head over to Johnson’s Orchard Farm for wine, music, arts and crafts, and of course food. Don’t leave your canine companion at home, because dogs are welcome here! Sip your wine from a commemorative wine glass while watching the Parade of Horses. Animal and wine enthusiasts alike won’t be able to get enough of this summer tradition.
Red, White, and Brew
Whether you prefer beer or wine, you will surely delight in Broadway’s Red White and Brew Festival on July 8th. Heritage Park welcomes anyone and everyone to enjoy craft beer (and some wines!) while listening to live music and eating delicious foods. $10 gets you admission and a commemorative glass to keep.
Virginia is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in America, and it would be a shame not to take advantage of every opportunity to see as much of it as possible.
