Come To The Suffolk Peanut Festival

It’s almost time for the Suffolk Peanut Festival.

This exciting celebration dates back to 1941 when it welcomed ten thousand people who watched a parade and attended dances and balls.

Today approximately 125,000 people walk through the gates to honor the city’s agricultural heritage and devotion to peanuts.

It has been featured in publications such as Southern Living and Virginia Business, and this year the fun takes place October 5th through 8th.

Highlights include:

Demolition Derby – Held on Friday night, the demolition derby typically fills the stands with spectators who are on the edge of their seats as the drivers compete by ramming their vehicles into one another.

Virginia Festival of Flight – Held in conjunction with the Peanut Festival, the Virginia Festival of Flight is the only statewide event of its type in Virginia. It features skydiving, flybys, free airplane rides, and so much more.

The Deloreans – The Deloreans is an 80s show band that calls Hampton Roads home. Made up of seasoned vocalists, their shows are full of energy and draw fans of all ages. Since 2007, the group has performed together along the East Coast, including for sitting U.S. presidents. Their repertoire includes Billy Joel’s “Mony Mony” and Tears for Fears “Shout.”

Josh Phillips – When an injury ended Josh’s college baseball career, he picked up a guitar and discovered he had a talent for playing and performing. Four years later, he has played at top venues and countless festivals throughout the country and states that he wants to create music that stands out.

The Suffolk Peanut Festival is just one of many events that you can attend if you call our Hampton Roads apartment community home. Please contact us to schedule a tour.
