From beaches to golf courses to theme parks, many of Hampton Roads’ hottest spots are best enjoyed on warm, sunny days.
Don’t hibernate just yet. Despite the winter chill, there’s still plenty of fun to be had.
Here are a few favorite destinations:
A great way to spend a full day indoors is at the Virginia Air & Space Center (VASC). Conveniently located in Downtown Hampton, the VASC features over 100 hands-on exhibits including over a dozen simulators. Visitors can spend hours planning missions at video game-style stations or tour the galleries detailing the history and innovation of the first century of flight. Admission to the VASC includes a free IMAX film, and there’s an on-site snack bar.
Brush up on your Sherlock Holmes before you head over to Escape Room at Peninsula Town Center and solve a mystery! A group of players has 60 minutes total to solve the riddles that let them escape their puzzling room. Room themes include a dinner party jewel caper, disappearances at a remote cabin, and a close encounter with extraterrestrials among others. After you solve your room, you can continue the inside fun at one of Peninsula Town Center’s trendy restaurants or at the newly remodeled Peninsula Movie Bistro.
Whether you’re looking for exercise, a date night activity or just fun, you can find it at the Hampton Roads IcePlex. Located in central Newport News, you don’t have to travel far to find this favorite winter pastime. Public skating hours are available daily, year-round. The IcePlex also offers skating lessons and pick-up hockey games.
