Eating farm-to-table meals in Hampton Roads is easier than you think. Tucked away in Suffolk is a green and happy place where freshness rules and springtime endures all year long. The Neighborhood Harvest is a one-of-a-kind produce resource and a flavorful addition to the community near Waypoint Apartments. Best of all is the convenience of weekly deliveries to your home. It doesn’t get any better than that.
About The Neighborhood Harvest
The Neighborhood Harvest is an impressive 19,000 square feet of year-round greenhouse goodness. It all began in 2012. Founders John Stein, Thomas Vandiver, and Eric Coble embarked on a mission to supply local restaurants and grocers with fresh basil. The hydroponic greenhouse farm evolved in the next few years to include a large range of greens. Their produce is non-GMO and pesticide-free. The partners developed a door-to-door delivery system to better serve the local community.
Buy Locally Grown Produce
You can find all the classic lettuces at The Neighborhood Harvest like romaine, green leaf, arugula, bibb and provincial. Herbs and microgreens are a specialty and include basil, cilantro, dill, and parsley. The farm is always expanding its product line. Shoppers can take advantage of sweet mini peppers, crispy mini cucumbers, avocados, and large shiitake mushrooms. The Neighborhood Harvest currently carries non-green items like brown eggs and goat cheese from local farms, fresh milk, butter, and lemonade, too.
The home delivery service requires no contracts and orders can be canceled at any time. The company keeps it simple by offering an easy online form and menu. You choose what you want and pay a small delivery fee. Then your order will be delivered to your front door. Arrangements can be made for secure buildings and gated apartment communities. The Neighborhood Harvest provides each customer with a cooler box to keep greens and groceries fresh and cold, too. There are no minimum orders so you only get what you want fresh from the farm.
In the Community
The Neighborhood Harvest is a community caretaker and is often active in local events and farmers markets. They partner up with other Hampton Roads farms and apiaries to offer companion goods to consumers. They also join forces with horticultural organizations and healthy living groups to sponsor plant-based food events. You can catch them at festivals and participate in one of the Lunch and Learn programs.
