That’s when Poquoson is hosting its 37th annual salute to the working watermen of Chesapeake Bay.
We’re talking about the Poquoson Seafood Festival, and it also celebrates life in a coastal city.
The event draws nearly fifty thousand attendees every year who enjoy the fresh seafood, juried art show, and exhibits from the Virginia Natural History Museum, as well as two stages of musical entertainment.
Slapnation – Slapnation is one of the most talented bands in the area. The nine members play an array of genres such as disco and Motown, and their songs include “Under the Boardwalk,” “Give it to Me Baby,” and “You’ll Never Find.”
Gator Head Band – Gator Head Band is a Southern rock band that calls Hampton Roads home. The members released their second album last year, and during their live performances, they entertain audiences with both cover and original songs. Their repertoire includes “Whiskey or Wine,” “Gator Bite,” and “Freedom.”
The Mullins Sisters – The Mullins Sisters is a Virginia-based trio that performs Americana folk, bluegrass, and country. The girls are known as one of the hottest bands on the East Coast, and they won “Song of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year” at the Nashville Independent Music Awards in 2015. They perform country classics as well as original music, and their songs include “Yesterday’s Gone,” “You’re Still Here,” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
